In this page, brief information about the ECO College of Insurance (ECI) is provided to help you obtain a birds-eye view of its potentials at a short glance.
History
- Initially established in 1969 as the then Tehran College of Insurance (TCI);
- Started to enroll students in Bachelors degree in Insurance Management since 1970;
- The TCI was divided into a Persian and an English section; the English section was named the International College of Insurance.
- The College was temporarily closed in 1979 due to the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
- It resumed its activities since 1985.
- The College was renamed to the ECO College of Insurance (ECI) in 1990 and joined Allameh Tabatabai University.
- The newly established ECI started enrolling students in Bachelors level in September 1991.
- The Masters Degree Programme in Actuarial Science was established in 2004.
- The Masters Degree Programme in Regional Studies was established in 2005.
- The Doctoral Degree Programme in Insurance was established in 2017.
Academics
The ECI has two departments, namely the
- Department of Insurance Management
- Department of Regional Studies
To date, five degree programmes are offered in the College. The programme names are briefly available in the following figure.

Faculty Members
To date, a total of 11 full-time faculty members are providing educational and research services to students at Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels. As of February 2020, a total of 25 visiting lecturers are also providing part-time support to the teaching activities in the College.

Research
The College is currently publishing a journal in English. The Journal of Insurance Research is an open-access, double-blind, peer-reviewed scholarly journal published in print and online versions. It is available from its website.
Library
There is a library in ECI, keeping a catalogue of more than 10880 volumes in English and Persian.
There are also hundreds of Masters theses in the library, and users may enjoy free online access to all theses and dissertations at ATUs Digital Library portal.
